Recovery nutrition may one of the most critical components to sports performance as the fuel that allows athletes to reap the benefits of training. This module helps exercise professionals understand how essential recovery nutrition is and aids to develop the knowledge and skills for supporting athletes with it. You will learn about the five goals of post-training and recovery nutrition with a focus on macronutrient guidelines specific to recovery. Additionally, we will discuss the four R's of recovery: Refuel, Rehydrate, Rebuild, and Rest. We address the three main nutrition concerns for recovery, which are hydration, glycogen restoration, and reducing soreness, and provide solutions for each. Finally, we teach exercise physiologists how to help athletes create balanced recovery meals that will aid in optimal recovery and maximized performance.
