The CSEP Physical Activity Training for Health® Resource Manual


The CSEP Physical Activity Training for Health® (CSEP-PATH®) Resource Manual offers a comprehensive, evidence-based foundation for the training and work of qualified exercise professionals.

Whether you currently hold, or are pursuing a CSEP certification, or are practicing in a related field, we hope this manual will be a key resource for you in your ongoing efforts to deepen your knowledge, skills and professional competence.

The Resource Manual includes a comprehensive set of evidence-based physical activity, fitness and lifestyle assessment protocols. In 2018 the CSEP-PATH® was refreshed with a new look and minor content updates to include the Get Active Questionnaire, Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines and updated recommended Blood Pressure Guidelines.

 

CONTENT OVERVIEW:

Section 1: Foundations
Examines the issues around physical activity and health, with a specific focus on the latest available information on Canadians' patterns of physical activity, sedentary behaviour.

Section 2: The CSEP-PATH
Presents the CSEP-PATH® itself, a 5-step sequence based on the 5-A's (Ask, Assess, Advise, Agree and Assist/Arrange).

Section 3: Training for Health and Performance
Focuses on training for health, fitness and training for performance-related fitness

Section 4, 5, 6, 7, 8: Training Elements Review
Special considerations at play when working with clients with a disability, children and youth, pregnant women, older adults or clients with a chronic condition.

Section 9: Professional Concepts:
Information of relevance to those interesting in or pursing CSEP certification.

Register your CSEP-PATH manual to access the digital toolkit and more. Use the unique serial code that came with your manual to access the digital toolkit if you are an eligible CSEP-CPT candidate the code will help purchase the CSEP-CPT Theory Exam. Once you use the code it will be saved to your account.

Redeem your free CSEP-PATH Toolkit with a new code

To access the CSEP-PATH Toolkit and download PDF copies of the tools follow these steps:

  1. Go to this product: Free CSEP-PATH Toolkit (redeem with code)
  2. Enter the unique serial code you received with your CSEP-PATH Manual and click Continue. (If you're logged in and you have previously entered your code, it will recognize your saved code)
  3. Add the Free CSEP-PATH Toolkit to your cart. During the checkout process, you will be asked to create an account (or log into an existing account) on the CSEP Store. By creating an account, your unique serial code will be registered to you and saved in your account.
  4. After you complete your order, you will have access to the download link in three places:
    1. On the order confirmation page when you complete your order.
    2. In the order confirmation email sent to you.
    3. On your account page under 'orders'.

Redeem your free CSEP-PATH Toolkit if you've already used your code

If you previously used Omniconnex (csep.omniconnex.com) to access the tools, follow these steps to access your CSEP-PATH Toolkit:

  1. Create an account on the CSEP Store: "Create CSEP Store Account". Make sure to use the same email address you used to register your account with Omniconnex so it connects the code you previously entered.
  2. Navigate to the product "Free CSEP-PATH Toolkit (redeem with code)". The store should recognize the code already on your account.
  3. Add the product to your cart and checkout.
  4. You will have access to the download link in three places:
    1. On the order confirmation page when you complete your order.
    2. In the order confirmation email sent to you.
    3. On your account page under 'orders'.
